Petmate Unveils More Than 100 New Products at Global Pet Expo 2014


Showcase includes products inspired by home decor trends, natural animal behaviors

March 12, 2014 Petmate, a leading maker of innovative products pet families prefer for home, travel and play, introduces more than 100 new products at Global Pet Expo 2014 in Orlando, Fla. Many of the company’s new products have been developed with a keen focus on natural animal behavior, home decor and fashion trends, and ever-increasing pet travel needs.

Animal Instincts

Petmate has partnered with renowned cat expert and animal advocate Jackson Galaxy for an exclusive line of innovative cat play products. Galaxy is the star of Animal Planet’s “My Cat from Hell,” now in production for its fifth season scheduled for spring 2014, and best-selling author of “Cat Daddy: What the World’s Most Incorrigible Cat Taught Me About Life, Love and Coming Clean.”

Expected to roll out in 2014, the Jackson Galaxy line will feature a variety of wands, toys, scratchers, tunnels and tents to cater to the ideal cat environment, known to Galaxy fans as “Catification.” Each product speaks to natural cat behaviors – Hunt, Catch, Kill, Eat, Groom and Sleep.

For dogs, Petmate expands its popular Chuckit!® toy line. Offering more “ways to play” from Indoor to Ground Pursuit, Shake, Tug & Play and new NightPlay, Chuckit! products nurture the natural bond between people and their dogs through play. Some new additions to the line include:

  • The Chuckit! Indoor Fumbler is made of soft chenille fabric and is great for small dogs and puppies. Compatible with the Indoor Launcher, the football-shaped fumbler is lightweight and perfect for indoor play.
  • Made of durable rubber, the Chuckit! Floppy Tug has a coiled spring shape that expands and contracts when tugging. Available in two sizes.
  • Made with reinforced rubber corners to increase durability during kick play, the Chuckit! Kick Cube features strategic rubber bite zones to allow easy pickup for dogs of all sizes and the cube shapeprovides an erratic bounce.
  • The first product in Petmate’s new NightPlay line, the Chuckit! Firefly LED Ball lights up with two ultra-bright, multicolor LED lights that fade between colors, creating a constant motion that helps dogs see the ball better when it is stationary. NightPlay toys are designed to encourage play after the sun goes down, when most people are home from work and have time to play with their pup.

Focusing on the natural instincts of digging and burrowing for dogs and kneading for cats, the Petmate Dig & Burrow Bed features fashionable designed fabrics, making this collection home decor-friendly as well. The bed is filled with a high-loft, recycled polyester fiber fill and is available in three sizes.

And, tapping into the human instinct, the Bedding Wire Shipper by Petmate offers pet specialty retailers greater flexibility to merchandise bedding in a secondary location. Available in full or half pallet sizes.

Home Decor Trends

To help pet accessories meld easily and stylishly into pet homes, Petmate has taken its inspiration from home design trends, including the use of organic materials and textures in its pet bedding and reimagined vintage pieces in its food storage lines.

In line with the home decor trend of bringing the outdoors inside with high-quality products, the Petmate Poly-Wicker Bedding, available in three sizes, is made of hand woven poly-rattan and is great for the patio as well as the living room. Made of mildew-resistant materials, the bed’s wire frame bottom provides for continuous ventilation, reducing odors.

In the feeding and watering category, the vintage glass jar your mother and grandmother made jams and jellies in is now available for pets in the Mason Inspired Food Storage line by Petmate. Made in the USA, all items in the line feature a light tint bottle that allows pet parents to see when it’s time to refill.

  • The Petmate Mason Inspired Treat Jar features a screw-top lid to keep treats fresh and is available in 150 ounces. The jar is made of PET, BPA-free plastic.
  • Featuring a rubber sealed lid to keep food fresh, the square design of the Petmate Mason Inspired Food Storage allows for efficient storage and easy stacking. Available in 20, 40 and 60-pound capacity.

Fashion Trends

Taking a cue from the latest colors in sports clothing and accessories, Petmate’s Aspen Pet® Sporty Brights bedding and Sport Mesh collars and leads are featured in bright, saturated hues.

  • The Aspen Pet Sporty Brights Pillow Bed features rugged rip-stop fabric with a zippered, removable, non-woven inner liner for easy washing. Filled with high-loft, recycled polyester fiber fill, the pillow bed comes in three sizes with orthopedic beds and loungers featuring an inset border to hold the Aspen Pet Cooling Mat (sold separately).
  • The Petmate Reflective Sport Mesh dog collars and leads feature a patent-pending, easy release two-toned buckle and a highly reflective neon mesh overlay material for increased visibility and safety. Collar available in three sizes and four colors.
